Vanderlande Industries and Schiphol Airport made a joint decision to use Pilz PSS programmable control systems. The use of conventional relays was examined, but the different sectors and the respective shutdowns made it virtually impossible to implement the system using conventional technology.
The PSS programmable control systems are connected via SafetyBUS p. This connection enables various sectors to be shut down when different emergency stop buttons are operated or when different safety gates are opened.
